The Grip Effect

Launched June 26, 2016
On Facebook and Instagram

Hi family and friends! I am Chrisy Pritchard also known as Chrisy Chris, #TheCurvyButterfli. I am the proud founder/creator of The Grip Effect.:)

The Grip Effect is a movement that acknowledges and provides support to children who have parents that struggle with Alcohol and Drug addictions, with hopes to end the cycle of addiction and its relative struggles.

My ultimate mission/vision is to "GRIP"

Give Children
Relief, Support, and Love,
 In the midst of
Parents with AOD (Alcohol and Other Drugs) Addictions...

providing awareness, examples of success,  dedication  and Love

#Gripped.

This journey and movement is very important to me, as I am the child of a mother who struggled with a drug addiction for over 20 years. Additionally I dedicated my entire college career to understand the process of  AOD addictions and how they affect families for my personal understanding, all-the-while my mother was in her addiction.

In June 2016 I noticed that I had over 110,000 followers who supported me as a Full-Figured model, a radio personality, an industry blogger, brand promoter and much more. However a small part of me felt like I needed to take that popularity and make a difference in someone else's life. As a result, The Grip Effect was birthed.

Initially I didn't completely feel I was best person to start #TheGripEffect, but I knew deep down inside I was relatively  qualified, as I was still dealing with emotions from the past that started as a child. I hope to make a difference in a child's life, as well as a family that cares for or is aware of children with this very same issue by creating a foundation that will allow this very thought to flourish to endless possibilities, in addition  to hosting  awareness and community events,  partnering with other relative agencies, and much more.

We are  currently looking for brand ambassadors, social service professionals, people of influence , people who aren't afraid to share their stories and testimonies, and most importantly support.

Please  like & share THE GRIP EFFECT Facebook Page:
Follow Us on Instagram And Twitter: @thegripeffect

I want to thank you for ANY help/support that you can give towards this movement and welcome your ideas. Please email us at TheGripEffect@gmail.com.

Vedo The Singer Meet &Greet/Listening Party

Tuesday, June 21, 2016
Atlantis Restaurant & Lounge
Atlanta, Georgia

As usual, I showed up dressed in my blogging uniform ( all black), ready to mingle and hear some good music!... #TheCurvyButterfli

All of my media partners were out of town in New York so I had to grab a random person to take my pic. lol. Shoutout to "Who Hired These Chicks"  for the pic!

Honestly, I never heard of Vedo or his music until the invite, but I'm damn happy I went! I have been missing out on some good soulful music.

Vedo was on Season 4 of NBCs The Voice and is also known on You Tube for his soundful covers, as well as his original work. Vedo is also the proud owner of his own music label titled New Wav Music Group that opened earlier this year, with his first project titled "State Of Mind", released on April 08.

Guests were given the opportunity to listen to snippets of the "State of Mind" album, and even got a chance to have an up-close and personal Q&A session.

Let's just say Vedo is young and traveling the world making moves. He said people in Atlanta don't like to pay so he's always traveling. Ain't that the truth! I've been down that road before.

It was a nice location but it really didn't have too many customers. I admit, I was salty about having to pay to park at a restaurant that barely even had customers. I don't know, maybe it was just a slow night, even more reason for free parking.

  Anyway, that's my two cents!

TUC Mag Cover Release Party: Zonnique and Mishon

Wednesday, June 15, 2016
Red Martini Lounge
Atlanta, Georgia

Wednesday night was awesome! It felt like a mini reunion. lol.

Ok, here's the scoop, I used to work with TUC Magazine almost 2 years ago when I first moved to Atlanta. As a matter of fact, Tonio ( CEO of TUC Mag) was the first industry/entertainment person I encountered after only being in Atlanta about 2 months or so. I was out walking down Edgewood Avenue on a date and bumped into Tonio while handing out fliers for his upcoming event.

I remember him telling me how much I looked like a stylist ( I used to rock my mohawk real heavy back then and used to get that question often); I was just a CURVY CURLY girl by the name of CHRISY, from Memphis TN, trying to get used to living in Atlanta. I was soooo homesick.

Since I was new here and I LOOOOVE art, I told him I was definitely going to attend. I didn't have any friends yet, so I went solo, hoping to meet new people.

Let's rewind back to my journey with TUC real quick.

The art event Tonio invited me to was nice!

It was something like an art mixer that had live painting and hip hop music. I loved it.

(Right) Owner of Iron Palm Tattoos
Picture taken 08/15/2014

Ending up meshing well with Tonio and his team and ended up being part of the team! Been there done that, got the t-shirt to prove it. lol.

Tonio will tell you - I cut up for a cute TUC t-shirt, as well as coordinating t-shirts for the team. lol. He said I was a handful back then.

Took this pic September 18, 2014 right before I was about to head out as a Brand Ambassador with TUC. We were headed to a spot called Club Lime Light at Uptown Comedy center to recruit models for the magazine. It's funny because I wasn't even a model back then, but was recruiting models like I knew what I was doing, lol. Unbeknownst to me, I would be a model just three months after that.

With Tuc Staff (Rico) at the recruiting event.

Another TUC Event.

That picture was taken October 20, 2014 right before we headed out to an event in the city to promote the magazine. I remember the event being on Edgewood Avenue ( Tonio loves urban areas), and Scotty ATL performing.

I wasn't into taking pictures as much ( other than selfies) back then, so I don't have a lot of pics of my journey with TUC :(

November 02, 2014 was my last event with TUC.

After the Ink and Art Inkfest with InkJunkEyez I went my separate ways.

( Pictured above with Flipside Ink tattoo shop from Memphis, TN)

Simply put, I was in the middle of a business deal that went sideways. I felt bad for it not going through ( although it wasn't my fault), and because I didn't want a bad reputation I fell back. Being new to the industry and not knowing how to handle things like that I felt that was the best thing for me to do.

My, my, my, TUC has grown and so have I.

TUC has restructured, and has even changed their name ( meaning of TUC and their focus) as well as their logo.

Let's take it back to the cover release party the other day, June 15, 2016.

(Left) Zonnique Pullins, T.I. & Tiny Harris's daughter, also singer and member of The OMG Girlz.

(Right) Mishon, R&B Singer and actor.

Both graced the cover of TUC's newest editions ( Issue 3 and 4).

Visit http://www.tucmag.net/ for more information.

Caught a glimpse of Mishon performing from his VIP section.

(Left) JoeYungSpike, My fellow Memphian who also lives here in Atlanta and is a well known video producer stopped by. This guy hasn't even been in Atlanta 2 years yet and Is poppin!

Pictured above with Tonio ( TUC CEO). I am so  happy  for him and his accomplishments!  Although I'm not directly part of the TUC Team they're still my peeps!

Tonio is a hard worker and is someone to learn from. He is not the type to GIVE anyone information, but,  he will lead you in the right direction and has been somewhat a mentor to me on several occasions! That's my guy!

Congrats Zonnique, Mishon and TUC Magazine on your success!

AAMBC Awards Mixer & Secrets The Movie Screening

Friday, June 03, 2016
at the Haven Lounge
Atlanta, Georgia

It was my first time blogging a literary event; I must say, I enjoyed it!

And this time I actually wore stilettos to an event. I usually just go cute and comfy, but this time I decided to take a risk. You better believe my dogs were barking at the end of the night! lol, but I played it off. lol. Since it was a real chill event I was able to sneak a seat in here and there. I can usually stand up in heels for a few hours, but I was there from 5:30 to 10:15. Cuteness only lasts so long. lol.

I really like the setup of the Haven Lounge.

It reminds me of one of those spots where people do spoken word and poetry. Have you seen the movie Love Jones? That's what it reminds me of. But although it was a nice spot, it was hot in there!!! And no I can't blame it on the alcohol because I only had pineapple juice while I was there. Perhaps the heat came from the crowd; it was a very nice turnout.

A few of the setups/author areas.

From romance novels to self help books.

Authors were there selling it all! I didn't purchase anything this time. Trust me when I tell you I have a stack of unread books on my shelf just waiting for me.

Food! Everyone loves food!

Guests were provided light refreshments.

I'm sure this setup said AAMBC. I didn't even think of that when I took the picture. How creative!

Tamika Newhouse, the founder of Litish and the AAMC Awards.

Tamika was so kind and friendly; most of all, she is definitely leading by example! She's an Author, Speaker, Visionary, Founder and Exec Director of AAMBC Awards, and Publisher, Lead Brand Manager, and Ceo of Delphine Publications. This lady has it going on!

The Men of Secret!

Actors and cast of the secrets movie, Harold House Moore, Dennis White, and Deric Augustine, along with Executive Producer Tressa Azarel Smallwood had panel discussions with the crowd after guests were shown snippets of  Secrets The Movie

A photo of the crowd!

I was truly surprised to see the mixture of people who attended; I didn't expect to see a lot of older people or males there, but it makes sense.

Secrets The Movie is one of those movies that will have you rethinking your life! lol.

Love, Sex, Betrayal, and more!

My media partner for the night, Crystal D! Fashion and Lifestyle Blogger (Society of Harlow) and Curvy Model.

Crystal and I are very familiar with one another. We've  modeled together several times for Pink Curvez Plustique. it was ironic that we ended up blogging this event together. It was fun showing her around, as this was her first event. I think she'll stick with it. She seemed to enjoy it.

I must say, I had an amazing time! I wish I would have been able to attend the whole weekend, but blogger and model duties had me on lock for Saturday and Sunday. As for me, I am ready to see the entire Secrets the Movie

Thanks for tuning in!

Private Silent Auction and Gala

Thursday, June 02, 2016
Terminal West
 Atlanta, Georgia

I was very fortunate to have someone sponsor a ticket for me ($150.00 value)!!!

I was blown away when I was told I was going, which was the day before the event, but I didn't complain; I just gathered my clothes together and prepared for a high class mingle.  As you can see, I did partake in a couple of libations, as they were unlimited and free! The food was pretty interesting. Everything was what I call "one bite", lol. I was expecting a full course meal for 150.00; I guess people who spend that kind of money on galas don't eat much, lol.

Terminal West.

It was a nice location. It was kind of hazy looking but I loved it! It was a mixed crowd ( race wise) and had a lot of older people there. I handed out a few business cards and partied quite well with the older folk! For some reason people just guess that I'm a model; I always find that interesting.

There was live entertainment.

And live food preparation.

Pictured above was some kind of french toast that had pan seared fruit in it.  The french toast and the fruit stations actually gave us about 5 bites. lol. I ate more fruit then a little bit! The other things we had were salmon and veggies, beef and potatoes, shrimp and grits, tenderloin and kale, ginger shooters, and crab salad. I think I spent most of my time in line trying to develop a full meal, while sipping on my pineapple margaritas. The next time I attend a Gala I know to eat beforehand. I'm sure I was looking real greedy! lol.

One of the auction tables.

The shoes that you see belonged to the R&B Singer Usher, and were being auctioned for around 2,000 dollars.

I didn't see anything I wanted to bid on, so I just mingled, drank, and ate.

Usher's mom, Ms. Jonetta Patton was the special guest for the night.

That was my second time meeting her. We talked about things that keep us humble and women empowerment. Ms. Patton told the audience how she plan's to give back to less fortunate women by donating time and money. I'm sure she convinced Usher to donate his shoes for the auction as well. Thanks Ms. Jonetta for being a pillar of the community.

Overall, I truly enjoyed this beautiful experience and want to thank SB for allowing me to attend!

Thanks for reading!
